The 2007 Annual Literacy Summit was held at the Skirball Cultural Center and was attended by nearly 200 service providers from the greater Los Angeles community.

Our speakers included:

Ray Cortines; Deputy Mayor, Education, Youth and Families; City of Los Angeles.
Mr. Cortines is a key advisor to the Mayor for the strategic development and implementation of his education reform agenda and represents the Mayor with various educational institutions, city departments and commissions that focus on serving children, youth and their families.

Tyree Wieder, Ed.D.; President, Los Angeles Valley College
Dr. Tyree Wieder has served as President of Los Angeles Valley College since 1994. She received her Doctoral degree at UCLA in Higher Education Administration.  Dr. Tyree Wieder has a distinguished record of community involvement. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Economic Alliance of the San Fernando Valley, and on the Board of Directors of Project Grad, the Advisory Committee for Teachers for a New Era at California State University Northridge and the University of California Regents Selection Advisory Board.
