Advocacy is defined as embracing a cause and attempting to shape public opinion in order to promote the interests of your community. Effective advocacy is both an art and a science. You can learn advocacy skills and techniques, but your efforts will not be effective if you do not also have passion.
From our existing Resource and Referral Program’s provider organizations, we will recruit a core group of 20 strategic partners, representing a cross-section of literacy agencies, to form an active and communicative coalition of literacy service providers. Participants of this engaged and responsive council will enhance and inform the advocacy and community awareness efforts of the Literacy Network on behalf of all service providers and learners in the five-county area we serve.
