Americorps

Literacy* AmeriCorps Los Angeles is funded by a federal grant from the Corporation for National and Community Service and is managed locally by the Literacy Network of Greater Los Angeles.

Blanca Garcia, a former Motheread learner, discussed how the program changed her life by allowing her to read to her children, get her GED, and graduate from college.

Volunteer for Literacy is a volunteer tutor program that serves adult learners in local literacy service sites. The goal of this initiative is to strengthen and build the capacity of literacy providers in the Greater Los Angeles community by providing volunteer support to programs that help improve basic literacy skills of adults and the workforce literacy skills of job seekers, incumbent workers, and adult learners.

Adult Workforce Literacy – Literacy@Work was an innovative public/private partnership of organizations dedicated to the advancement of workforce literacy. The Literacy@Work Project developed and implemented customized literacy trainings for the workplace.
