Volunteer for Literacy, Welcome

Participants at a New Volunteer Tutor Training.

Participants at a New Volunteer Tutor Training.

Become a Volunteer Tutor! Make a significant impact on the lives of adults and their families!

The Volunteer for Literacy program can offer you a uniquely rewarding experience as a volunteer tutor for youth and adult learners.

We have partner sites throughout Greater Los Angeles who need volunteers.

Spend two hours a week as a tutor and change your life.

No experience is necessary; we’ll provide training.

Utilize your skills and life experience.

As a volunteer you will receive:

  • A professional training to help you obtain new learning tools and activities to tutor with confidence
  • The support of a program staff who will provide on-going assistance, resources and encouragement throughout you volunteer experience
  • Follow up specialized trainings to grow your skills as a tutor (i.e., ESL, ABE, GED, Learning Disabilities, Study Skills, Resume Writing, etc.)
  • Acknowledgment of your time and commitment to the program at our annual volunteer recognition event
